New Camera, Fog and Swinnerton

I bought myself a Christmas present. A new Sony A7. On the recommendation of my friend Matt O’Sullivan (if you’re on Facebook, you can see an excellent street photo gallery here), This photo, shot from the hip, is a tribute/thank-you to him for his recommendation and inspiration. Thanks, Matt.

This new camera has an astounding ISO range from 50 to 25,600, which means it can almost shoot in the dark. Such as on this foggy night on Hunter Street.

Look at those reflections. So crisp. In nothing but the dim street light glow.

Or this fantasy like view of the old Baskin Robbins building with the night time clouds overhead. This is pretty much “in camera,” this shot. I just shifted the hue and muted the saturation a bit.

That’s one crazy shot, tone wise.

Of course, I had to try the gear indoors at a music show.

Here’s the funkin’ bluesy impromptu band that Jay Swinnerton whipped together for Boxing Day at the Garnet.

The room was dark, but the music was bright.

Jay has a couple of bands that he gets down with in Toronto.
