I’m back to work this week on a fine production from New Stages Theatre.
The Pitmen Painters opens tonight (Friday, April 8 at 8pm at Market Hall) and I can’t wait to hear the first comments from the audience.
Written by Lee Hall (Billy Elliot), it’s a recreation of the true story of a group of coal miners in 1930s England who learned to paint.
It’s humourous, touching and covers a LOT of ground in regards to what it is to make art and who has the right to call themselves an artist.
The cast is excellent and the two act play moves at a rapid pace.
I can’t recommend it enough.
It appears Bea Quarrie, in her review of the dress rehearsal for MyKawartha, and Sam Tweedle for Kawartha Now, also think it’s worth checking out.
… and we’re so happy to have you with us Esther! xo
That we are!
