I had been neglecting this geranium and over the years it became a spindly length of stalks with a few leaves. But late this summer I re-potted it.
I had no idea what kind of flowers it would produce.
I’m so happy to find out. It’s quite lovely.
This chrysanthemum, also. I had left it out all winter. In the spring, it seemed like it wouldn’t recover.
But there was one root with a tiny set of leaves. I potted that root and put it in a nice sunny place with lots of water. These fall coloured flowers are my reward.
The pollen is the bee’s reward. Here on a marigold, I suspect the pollen jacket on the bee is actually from that mum.
Another thing of beauty that comes with much care and tending is music. I got to listen to some excellent music last night. This is Lucila Al Mar.
Lucila is in the process of driving and gigging across Canada to Vancouver. Check out her powerful voice when she comes to your town.
And more excellent power came from our local Sarah DeCarlo.
Another excellent songwriter and musician worth watching.
Here’s to the staying power of flowers, bees and excellent musicians. May they all continue to grow as the seasons pass.
Every year around this time my aster plant becomes a magnet for wasps and bees. They love the masses of pollen tucked within the florets. Read more “Bee Condo (Aster Heights)”
The garden is in full swing and I have a few brief moments at home. Read more “Garden Riches”
It’s bee and wasp season. I got stung by a wasp last weekend. Man did that ever hurt. But no hard feelings. It was just doing what wasps do.
In my garden, the bees are doing what bees do. Read more “Bees”
