Ice Break

We’ve had some cold nights recently.

It’s been cold enough to expand the ice.

These are expansion cracks that have expanded and thrust the ice up in shelves and plates through Rice Lake.

It appears to stretch along the entire north shore of the lake.

It’s like a very long, site specific sculpture.

And it’s on a scale Robert Smithson could only dream of.

Nature is quite the artist.
