Mom has lived in a suburb that, she once discovered, is on one of the highest points of land in London. When you look around, it’s as though the rest of the landscape has floated away. A friend and I refer to it as Edgeworld.
Edgeworld also feels, in many ways, isolated as it was a suburb built in the height of the era of the car and there’s really nothing you can walk to.
In recent years, a few things have cropped up, such as this car wash.
It stands on a corner, seemingly in the middle of a sea of houses. Glowing away into the night.
The car wash at the end of the world.
