Artists (including a few folks from Bike! Peterborough) were asked to create bicycle related artworks which are being shown at the gallery this week. The event on Wednesday also had a burlesque act (above) and prize giveaways [full disclosure – I won a fancy pack of bike gear and a membership to the organization].
The art was wonderful and included work by Jeff Macklin…
Chris Culgin and sideman Derek Bell played a lovely set at the benefit before they head out on tour across Canada. Chris is a brilliant lyricist and his music is warm and danceable. Check out his tour schedule and go see him when he comes to your town.
Later in the evening I was able to catch Ivory Hours at the Garnet.
I was the first there and ended up getting a short command performance before other folks arrived. I was happy to hear them play a more relaxed set than their pop-tune album suggests. The album is great, but their relaxed live show was a treat.
Another good band to check out while they’re on tour this summer.
